Installation Instructions
December 15, 2004

Instructions

1.  Verify that the electrical box, onto which the front

part of the RPT will be mounted, is grounded.

NOTE:

In Steps 2 through 5, you will determine
where, on the outside wall, to drill a 2-
inch hole. You will use the outside
cover plate on the inside wall to make
offset measurements from the door
frame to the air inlet and then transfer
these measurements to the outside
wall.

2.  Temporarily mount the

outside

 cover plate onto

the electrical box in the

inside

 wall, with the

outside

cover plate oriented so that the Siemens

Building Technologies logo is at the bottom.

CAUTION:

For the RPT to function properly, the
airflow tube that connects the front and
rear cover plates must be level. Since the
next two steps determine the location of
the rear cover plate on the outside wall,
they are critical to the accurate operation
of the RPT.

3.  On the inside wall, measure the distances from

the middle hole in the outside cover plate’s air
inlet to the floor and the door frame, as shown in
Figure 2, and then remove the outside cover
plate from the inside wall.

CAUTION:

If the floors inside and outside the room
are at a different level, be sure to account
for

this

 difference in Step 4.

NOTE:

The location indicated in Figure 2 is the
CDC’s (Center for Disease Control)
recommended mounting location. If the
specified mounting location is not
feasable, select another location
approved by the owner.

4.  On the outside wall, mark off the distances from

the floor and the doorframe and locate the point
of intersection.

5.  At the intersection point, drill a 2-inch diameter

hole in the outside wall. Take care to use the
intersection point as the exact center to ensure
the new hole will be completely concealed by
the outside cover plate.

6.  Be sure the airflow tube is clear of debris and

then press it onto the black plastic mount on the
RPT circuit board, as far as it will go.

7.  Temporarily attach the inside cover assembly to

the inside wall (oriented with the Siemens
Building Technologies logo at the top) and make
a pencil mark on the airflow tube where it exits
the outside wall. Then remove the inside cover
plate assembly from the inside wall.

8.  Cut off the length of tubing that extends beyond

the pencil mark, and then remove any burrs from
the end of the tube. Place the rubber section of
the tubing on the newly cut end.

NOTE:

Tubing runs longer than 12 inches will
degrade the signal and cause poor
performance. Do not use tubing longer
than the tubing provided.

9.  Connect the pressure signal cable to terminals

1(

+

, Hot) and 3(

, Common) of the 3-pin

terminal block, then plug it into the receptacle on
the RPT (see Figure 3).
