Removing a defective drive
OLR is only available for OLR-capable drives in peripherals cabinets, for example on
an RM400 system with the RM400-BG31 or -BG32 or BG4 peripherals cabinet.
Before you start removing a defective hard drive it is a good idea to make
sure that you have the new (replacement) drive in its original packaging
in the immediate vicinity of the old drive.
You must not remove a hard drive if the associated green or red LED is
flashing.
Ê
Open the peripherals cabinet as described in the operating instructions for the
cabinet.
Built into the peripherals cabinet there is a shuttle frame which holds hard disk drives
designed for OLR. The red LED on the disabled drive is lit (steady, not flashing).
Ê
Pull the handle of the drive shuttle containing the magnetic disk carefully
towards the left, or upwards (depending on how it is mounted)
