Preparation

Connecting a hose system

For a detailed description of invasive ventilation, 
see page 135.

WARNING
Make sure that the selected hose system cor-
responds to the device setting! 
Carina might not give an alarm when using an 
incorrect hose system. In such cases, meas-
ured volumes can differ significantly from the 
actual volumes!

WARNING
Do not use antistatic or conductive hoses. The 
use of such materials increases the risk of an 
electric shock for the patient and the risk of 
fire breaking out due to oxygen.

WARNING
Only use hoses and masks that conform to 
ISO 5356-1. Otherwise hoses might discon-
nect during ventilation.

WARNING
Route hoses safely. Eliminate the risk of stum-
bling! Do not kink hoses! Keep the leak valve 
free for expiration! 

NOTE

To avoid contamination and soiling of the hose sys-
tem, it should remain packaged until ready to be 
used.
