CAUTION!
Never operate the unit if the air
cleaner assembly is damaged or
missing!
CAUTION!
Before removing the spark plug,
clean the area around the plug to
prevent dirt and debris from getting
into the engine’s internal parts.

Remove and clean or replace the
spark plug.
■
Clean the spark plug. Adjust
electrode gap according to the
values listed in the ”Specifications”
section. If the spark plug must
be replaced, use only the type
recommended in ”Specifications” or
equivalent spark plug of the correct
heat range.
1. Close choke (COLD START
position). This prevents dirt from
entering the carburetor throat when
the air filter is removed. Brush
accumulated dirt from air cleaner
area.

Remove air filter cover. Brush dirt
from inside cover.

Replace filter if it is damaged, very
dirty, or the rubber sealing edges
are deformed.

Lightly brush debris from filter.
■
Soak heavily soiled filters in water/
detergent solution to loosen dirt,
then brush lightly.
■
Rinse with clean water and allow to
dry completely before reuse.

Install air filter in air filter case.

Install air filter cover.
