If the unit does not return to idle speed or doesn't reach full rpm, the throttle lever 

free play may need to be adjusted as follows:

1.  Measure free play at the end of the throttle lever. Throttle lever free play should 

be approximately 5 - 7 mm (0.2 - 0.275 in.). See Figure 10. 

2.  If adjustment is necessary, remove the air cleaner cover by loosening the 

cleaner cover knob.

3. 

Turn the cable locknut fitting in or out until throttle lever free play is 

approximately  5 - 7  mm  (0.2 - 0.275  in.).

4.  Replace the air cleaner cover, and tighten the cover retaining screws securely.

10-Hour Maintenance

(more frequently in dusty conditions)

1.  Close choke. Remove the air cleaner cover by loosening the cleaner cover knob. 

See Figure 12.

2.  Inspect the air cleaner element. If the element is damaged or distorted, replace 

it with a new one.

3. 

Tap filter gently on a hard surface to dislodge debris from element or use 

compressed air from the inside to blow debris out and away from the air filter 

element. 

IMPORTANT!

Direct the air stream at the inside face of the filter only!

CAUTION!

Never operate the unit if the air cleaner assembly is damaged or missing!

4. 

Install the filter element and 

cover in the reverse order of removal.
