• Checking
1. Set a cassette tape, push the REC button to place the
unit in the SP record mode. Now check the tension
pole position.
2. Visually check to see if the right edge of the tension
pole is within the 2.3
±
0.25mm from the right edge of
the Sup guide shaft.
Insert the slotted screwdriver in the tension pole ad-
juster, and rotate counterclockwise.
At right side from the center line
Insert the slotted screwdriver in the tension pole ad-
juster, and rotate clockwise.
Make the adjustment with the beginning of a E-180 tape.

13. CHECKING AND ADJUSTMENT OF
RECORD/PLAYBACK BACK TENSION
• Remove the cassette housing control assembly.
• After short-circuiting TP7701 (J930) and TP7702
(J359) provided at the left on the main PWB, plug
in the power cord.
• Setting
1. Turn off the power switch.
2. Open the torque cassette meter and fix with tape.
3. Set the cassette tape in loading state.
4. Put the weight (500g) on the cassette torque meter.
5. Turn on the power switch.
• Checking
1. Push the REC button to place the unit in the SP
record mode.
2. At this time ascertain that the back tension is within
the setting (36.5 to 52g·cm) by seeing the indication
of torque cassette meter.
