1 .2 Grind Size Selection

1.

To select grind size, simply turn the grind adjustment collet

8

so

as to align the guide mark   with the desired grind setting  ,
marked on the housing (C).

Turning the collet clockwise gives coarser grinds, while

turning it counter clockwise gives finer grinds.

Infinite selections of grind settings are possible between fine

and cracked. Click stops are provided at the six marked
grind settings. The collet will not turn past

 (cracked) sign,

in the clockwise direction, nor past

(fine) sign in the

counter clockwise direction.

1.3 Grinding

1. To start grinding, simply touch the sensor button   while

circulating the mill in a circular motion over the dish to be
peppered.

•  One touch of the sensor opens the grinder doors and turns on the

light which illuminates the dish to be peppered, followed by a

fraction of a second later by the start-up of the grinding
mechanism. Upon release of the touch sensor, the light will go
off, followed within milliseconds by the closing of the doors. This
helps to avoid any ‘pepper tracks’ on your table.

•  The opening of the grinder doors and turning on of the light, the

timing of the “grind-pause” cycle, the delay in closing of the
grinder doors and turning off of the light, are all controlled by an
internal quartz clock precise to 1/50000 of a second. This

accuracy assures that for every touch of the sensor, a constant
amount of pepper is ground.

• One or two touches of the sensor produce enough ground

pepper to satisfy most tastes. However, keeping your finger on

the sensor suppresses the closing of the doors and turning off of
the light and will cause a repetition of the “grind pause” cycle until
the finger is removed.

• In very dry, ambient conditions, it may be necessary for some

users to very lightly moisten, not wet, their finger in order to
activate the sensor.

•  Avoid spilling any liquids on the sensor as this will activate the

mill. Should that happen, wipe it with a dry cloth.

•  Always keep the mill in an upright position and when not in use,

store it on the charger base. Inverting the mill may cause ground
pepper to be caught by the grinder doors from where they could
impair the proper functioning of the door closing mechanism.
