3 Installation and operation
Installation
The pump must be installed exclusively above the water table, as flow back water can lead to a
short circuit. Ideal site is a stable platform, at least 10 cm higher than the foundation. With
installation on an instable base disruptive noises can occur due to vibrations. The pump must be
set up horizontally in order that a one-sided loading of the diaphragm and, with this, to prevent an
associated shorter functional duration.
Please pay attention, in particular with unfavourable operating conditions, that there is sufficient
ventilation. With installation of the pump in a control box air circulation must be ensured through
cooling slots or possibly even through forced ventilation. A cool environment ensures a long
service life of the diaphragm and valves.
Although diaphragm compressors are weatherproof they should not be placed in locations in which
they are subjected to direct sunlight, rain or snow.
Air quality
The diaphragm compressors were developed exclusively for the delivery of air. Do not use the
diaphragm compressor in dusty environments as blocked filters can lead to overheating. The
atmospheric humidity must not be greater than 90%. Inflammable, aggressive gases and vapours
must not enter into the pump as the delivery flow moves past on electrically charged particles (=
possible! Ignition source!).
Pipelines
Select the pipeline diameter, length and accessories so that the pressure loss remains minimal.
Use:
•
Straight and, as far as possible, short lines
•
Pipelines whose diameter is greater than the blower connection pieces
(inner Ø 13mm/outer-Ø 19mm, respectively inner-Ø 20mm/outer-Ø 27mm for double
systems)
•
Long pipe curves and no angles
•
Valves with greater flow than the blower connection pieces
•
Easily accessible valves with small pressure loss
•
Ventilation elements with low resistance
Scheduled maintenance
Clean the filters regularly and exchange worn diaphragms promptly.
Complete repair kits can be obtained from us.
Storage
Store the pumps at over -10° C, in order not to weaken the permanent magnets and to achieve an
optimum performance. With storage the pump may not be exposed to direct sunlight or high
temperatures in order to keep the rubber parts flexible.
