4.1. 

When the  

     

symbol appears in the display, the battery is nearly discharged and should be replaced immediately.

4.2.   Battery Removal: 

To open the battery compartment, release the catch (fig.2) and open the cover (fig.3)

3.1. 

remove the light sensor cap (9) and press the on/off key (3) to switch the meter on. (Always protect the light sensor with the  

 

cap 

when

3.2. 

Move the meter to the required position and place the light sensor square on to the light source.

3.3. 

the display (2) shows the light reading. 'Lux'  or  'fc' readings can be selected by pressing either key 5 or key 7.

3.3.1.  1 foot candle (fc) =10.764 lux, 1 lux =.0929 foot candles.

3.3.2.  If the reading shows 'x10' beside the figures, it must be multiplied by 10 for the correct value.

3.4. 

Holding a Reading: 

Pressing the hold key (4) will freeze the display at that reading.  'Hold' will appear as a reminder that the  

 

function is engaged. Press key 4 again to cancel the function.

3.5. 

Maximum and Minimum Mode : 

Press the max/min key (6) once to record the maximum light level encountered since the key  

 

was pressed; a second press will show similarly the minimum reading whilst in this mode.

3.5.1.  If the hold key (4) is pressed whilst in maximum or minimum mode, the meter will stop measuring until pressed again to retain the  

 reading.

3.6. 

Auto Power Off: 

If the     symbol appears in the top left hand corner of the screen, it denotes that the auto power off mode is  

 

activated. In this mode, the meter will switch off automatically if no key is pressed for about 10 minutes.

3.6.1.  to disable this mode, press the max/min key (6) and keep pressed whilst switching on with key 3. Perform the same procedure to  

 re-activate.

3.6.2.  the meter can be switched off manually at any time by pressing key 3.

3.7. 

Zero Adjustment:

 the meter should be zeroed periodically; to achieve this place the cap (9) over the light sensor (1) then press  

 

and hold down the hold key (4) until 'adj'  followed by '0.00' appears on the display. the meter is then zeroed.

notE:. If the cap is not placed over the light sensor,  the word 'cap' will appear on the display to indicate that the process has failed. fit  

 

the cap correctly and repeat.

Disconnect the battery and replace with a fresh 9V battery, ensuring the correct polarity connection.

replace the battery in the compartment, close and secure the cover.

use a soft, dry cloth to clean the meter.
