4.  OPERATION

 NOTE:

Dampen the sponge wiper before using the soldering station.

4.1.

CONNECTION

4.1.1.

Push the DIN plug attached to the iron lead into the socket on the front panel of the control unit.

4.1.2.

Plug the power cable into the mains power supply after ensuring that it is to the correct standard.

4.2.

SWITCHING  ON

4.2.1.

Switch the on/off switch to the ‘

‘ setting. Switch is located on the side of the unit.

4.2.2.

Select the required tip temperature using the dial knob on the front of the unit. The knob has both a dimple and small pointer to

enable accurate setting and has scales showing for both celcius and fahrenheit units.

4.2.3.

The red light on the front of the unit will flash while heating to the required temperature. Once the set temperature is reached the

red light will be lit constantly.

4.3.

CALIBRATION

(fig.1)

4.3.1.

The soldering iron should be recalibrated after changing either the tip, heating element or whole soldering iron.

4.3.2.

Remove and carefully store the CAL plug. Replace it after calibration is completed.

4.3.3.

Ensure that the tip of the soldering iron is well tinned with solder to disperse the heat.

4.3.4.

Set tip temperature to 400

0

C. When tip is indicated to be at temperature (4.2.3), measure the actual tip temperature using a

suitable, reliable and accurate device.

4.3.5.

If the measured tip temperature is lower than the set temperature use a suitable screwdriver to rotate the CAL control clockwise for

a quarter of a turn at a time to increase the tip temperature. Repeat this until the set and measured temperatures are the same.

4.3.6.

If the measured tip temperature is higher than the set temperature use a suitable screwdriver to rotate the CAL control counter

clockwise for a quarter of a turn at a time to decrease the tip temperature. Repeat this until the set and measured temperatures are

the same.

5.  MAINTENANCE

‰

WARNING!

Remove from mains supply before performing any maintenance or cleaning.

8

DO NOT

open the casing; there are no user-servicable parts inside. In case of malfunction, return to your Sealey stockist or Service

 Agent.

5.1.

CLEANING

8

DO NOT

shock or tap the iron tip to remove excess solder; use the dampened sponge wiper.

5.1.1.

Clean the casing with a moist, soapy cloth, having ensured that the unit is isolated from the electrical supply.
