PROBLEM
PROBABLE CAUSE
SOLUTION
Burner will not light
Gas supply valve may be in
OFF position
Air in gas supply system.
Orifice blocked
No spark for ignition
New unit = 1st time ignition
Turn the gas valve ON
Purge air from lines.
Check for spider, web or obstruction in Ori-
fice. Clean or replace orifice.
Replace AAA battery … listen for spark.
Check electrical leads / connections.
Replace battery spark/igniter module.
Burner can be ignited manually
Ensure air purged from gas supply
Burner will not stay lit
Debris or dirt around pilot
Gas leak / loose connections
Thermocouple faulty
Clean pilot area
Inspect and tighten connections; Gas leak
check (page 11)
Replace Thermocouple
Low Burner flame
Gas pressure is low
Spider web or insect cocoon
Check gas pressure with manometer.
Check for restricted or plugged orifice.
Burner smoking / making
carbon
Poor gas to air mixture
Clean components and any build-up of
dirt/debris
