Insert the shaft of the quick release 

lever into the left side of the wheel, 

through the front maiden and on through 

the right wheel side. Place the washer and 

knob onto the quick release lever shaft, 

compressing the spring on the lever side 

until there is about an 1/8" or less of space 

between the lever and the wheel side. 

Close the quick release lever. The knob 

should be just tight enough to allow firm 

pressure when closing the lever.
If the lever closes loosely, open the lever, 

tighten the knob a bit, and try closing the 

lever again. If the lever requires a lot of 

pressure to close, loosen the knob a bit.

Install the bulky flyer

 

Loosen the front maiden so that it can 

be tipped toward you as you sit in front of 

the wheel. 

 

Place the Scotch tension string on the 

bobbin and the drive band into the whorl 

groove.

 

Insert the end of the flyer shaft into the 

rear maiden bearing.

 

Insert the orifice into the front maiden. 

Push the front maiden against the stops, 

make sure it is vertical, and secure with 

the quick release lever.  

adjustIng the front maIden

Look at the flyer from above to where the 

orifice enters the front bearing. Push the 

flyer shaft toward the rear. There should 

remove the  

standard front maIden

 

Remove the flyer, bobbin and whorl.

 

Open the quick release lever and 

unscrew the knob. Remove the knob and 

washer, then pull out the quick release 

lever shaft.

 

Remove the front maiden and store.

Install the  

bulky front maIden

 

Place the bulky front maiden between 

the wheel sides with the logo facing the 

front of the wheel.
