2. Start up of cassettes
2.1 Installing Filter Cassettes in a Stedim Biotech holding device,
Holding Device
To install the cassettes in a Sartorius Stedim Biotech holding device,
proceed as follows:
1. Remove filter cassette from its packaging.
2. Check and record cassette labelling.
3. Place the filter cassette with the semi-circular cutouts facing downward on the
two guide rods between the two holding plates.
4. Slide the filter cassettes closely together between the two compression plates.
5. Alternately tighten the compression nuts on a manual holder until the required
torque is reached.
6. Apply hydraulic pressure as mentioned in the table “
Clamp force for
Sartocon
®
ECO Cassettes
” to the piston by using the supplied manual
or automated hydraulic pump.
7. When using a manual holding devices or a holder with hydraulic handpump
closure, compression has to be checked and eventually re-adjusted every
15 minutes. This has to be repeated until compression is stabilized.
Do not increase the compression pressure beyond the pressure specified.
Preferably a Sartorius Stedim Biotech holder with hydraulic closure, such as a
Sartoflow
®
10 or Sartoflow
®
20, should be used with Sartocon
®
ECO cassettes.
