Removing the Spacers (As Needed)
If you want to install cassettes with a different filtration area in the filter holder,
you must remove any spacers mounted. To do so, complete the following steps:
t
t
Remove the upper tensioning nut (3), the PEEK washer (2) and the end bolt (1b)
from the top pull rod.
t
t
Remove the desired number spacers (1a) and save them.
Tensioning the Cassette
Danger due to improper installation of the pull rod!
When installing the pull rod make sure that the spacer, terminal spacer and PEEK
plain washer are assembled correctly. The wrong configuration can lead to incorrect
tightening torques and to destruction of the filter holder.
− The PEEK plain washers must always be installed on the terminal spacer; the flat
side of the terminal spacer is especially designed to accommodate the PEEK plain
washers.
Before each use, the PEEK plain washers must be cleaned with water in order
to completely maintain the functionality of the filter holder.
− After every 10 uses, the plain washers should be replaced with new ones.
t
t
Push the spacer (1a, double conical) and the terminal spacer (1b, simple taper)
onto the top pull rod in such a way that the taper of the spacers fits into the taper
of the clamping plate (4).
t
t
Check to make sure the flat site of the terminal spacer (1b) is facing the outside.
t
t
Clean the PEEK plain washer (2) with water and insert it onto the pull rod.
t
t
Screw the tensioning nut (3) loosely onto the top pull rod.
t
t
From above, place the top pull rod in the groove of the product plate, cassette and
clamping plate.
t
t
Check that the cassette is seated correctly and tighten upper and lower tensioning
nuts by hand (5).
t
t
Thread the socket head onto the torque wrench.
t
t
Set the correct tightening torque on the torque wrench.
t
t
Uniformly tighten both tensioning nuts with the torque wrench by alternating
between up and down.
For information on connecting the cassette to the crossflow filtration units, please
refer to the cassette installation instructions.
