Chapter 9 Quick Start
1. Please review the System Layout/Wiring. Check whether PC power is OFF before
proceeding.
2. Connect the DB-9 data cable to your PC Com Port, locate the PS2 power DIN6
connector and insert to your Laptop PS2 jack. (Please apply the same jack to the
external mouse, if any.)
3.
Make sure that your new
GM-44-FB
is secured properly.
4.
Turn on your Laptop and run your map-based program. Make sure that your map-based
program adopts the standard NMEA sentences mentioned in this manual. Please note
that some map-based programs are proprietary, and thus they require their
corresponding hardware to run on.
5.
Select the proper Com Port number of your Laptop.
Note:
Most Laptops share Com Port 1 (PCMCIA & SERIAL DB-9) and the BIOS
will detect which serial is being used. If your BIOS cannot detect the serial port,
then it must be manually selected during your Laptop PC start-up.
