Receiving Messages
When you receive a message, your phone notifies you in one of the
following ways:
•
In Standby mode
: The ringer sounds (unless turned off) and
New
Message
appears in the display along with the closed envelope icon (
).
•
While in a call
:
New Message
appears in the display along with the closed
envelope icon (
).
The date and time of the message also appear in the display along
with the following options:
•
View Now
: Downloads (picture messages) and opens the message. You
have the following options:

Text Message
:
Forward, Reply With Copy, Save Quick Text, Lock, Add To
Contacts, Message Info, or Extract.
–
Picture Message
:
Reply, Forward, Delete, Save Text, Save Pic, or Save Msg.
•
View Later
: Saves the message to your Inbox, where you can view it later,
then returns your phone to its previous mode. (For more information, refer
to
“Message Boxes”
on page 72.)
Messages and Lock Mode
Your phone can still receive messages while in Lock Mode. The time
and date of the message appear in the display, but you cannot access
the message until you enter the lock code.
