Overview of Short Message Services (SMS)
Your CDMA Cellular phone receives voice mail notification and text messages and pages. When the
phone receives an incoming message, an alert sounds, and a text notification displays (“Message from:”).
“Urgent!” displays to signal an incoming urgent message. The Messages indicator remains on the
display until you read the pending or voice mail notification messages.
When message memory reaches 75 percent capacity, the screen displays a text notification and a prompt
to erase old messages. At full capacity, the screen displays a text notification and rejects additional
incoming messages until you erase some of the stored messages.
The phone treats duplicate messages as one incoming message entry. For example, if the phone receives
the same name and callback number in sequence, the phone records the more recent date and time
information, and then displays “Duplicate” on the message header.
The phone automatically adjusts the incoming message alert volume to the lowest setting when the
phone is in Conversation mode.
Incoming voice mail notification and text message s transmit even when the phone is in Lock mode. To
access the message, or to return a call other than an emergency or special number, enter the lock code.
