    This product is intended for use by one person and 

should not be shared. Recommended replacing the Whisper 

Cannula at least every  

7 days.

PRECAUTIONS FOR USE OF NASAL CANNULA WITH OXYGEN:

 

Follow your 

homecare provider’s instructions for safe use and operation for your portable and 

home oxygen systems. Do not smoke or allow anyone to smoke around you. Do not 

use petroleum or oil based creams and lotions in and around your nose. Avoid using 

electrical equipment that may cause a spark. Do not let children or pets play with your 

oxygen equipment. Do not kink, bend or tie your nasal cannula tubing. Replace the 

nasal cannula if it becomes damaged. H

ave an extra nasal cannula for backup. Use 

oxygen as prescribed by your doctor. 

Contact your doctor if you experience worsening or 

sudden change in shortness of breath or chest tightness.

SAFETY PRECAUTIONS 

• Oxygen is a nonflammable gas, but does support combustion. Follow your

homecare provider’s instructions for the care and safe operation of your oxygen

delivery system (e.g., oxygen cylinder, oxygen concentrator, liquid oxygen).

• Do not smoke or allow anyone to smoke around you.

• Keep oxygen equipment at least 6 feet away from flames or any

heat source.

• Do not use petroleum based products, or oil-based creams and

lotions in or around your nose.

• Do not use flammable products such as aerosol sprays, cleaning

products near your oxygen.

• Avoid using electrical equipment that may cause a spark

(i.e., electric razor).

• Use oxygen as prescribed by your doctor.

• The total length of your nasal cannula and oxygen tubing should not exceed

57 feet to ensure there is enough pressure to deliver prescribed oxygen.

• Do not kink, bend or tie your oxygen tubing,

• Do not set anything on your tubing that may obstruct flow.

• Keep excess tubing loosely coiled and out of the way to prevent tripping on oxygen

tubing.

• Do not place oxygen tubing or nasal cannula under blankets, bedsheets, rugs, etc.

• Use caution so your oxygen tubing does not become entangled in your furniture.

• Keep an extra nasal cannula and other oxygen supplies available for use.

• Do not let children or pets play with your oxygen equipment.

• Recommend use of swivel adapter to reduce the possibility of twisting for nasal

cannula and supply tubing longer than 14 feet.
