Guidelines for working safely
with the SpotHeater SH1000
CAUTION:
As with any power tool,
it is important to folllow common
safety precautions. Read the
guidelines carefully for safe use
and handling.
NOT RATED FOR CONTINUOUS DUTY:
Use for max. 2 hrs. at a time.
• Keep the work area free of flammable materials
and at a safe distance from flammable gases and
liquids.
• Connect the SpotHeater to a 110V GFCI power
outlet and set the power switch to “ON”. The IR
tube will reach operating temperature in about 1
minute.
• Make sure you have a firm grip. Always work with
protective gloves. Avoid touching the SpotHeater’s
metal parts and loosened paint, as these can be
very hot.
• Before use, check that all parts of the SpotHeater
are firmly intact. Should any parts be damaged,
they should be replaced before using.
• Do not inhale fumes. Ensure good ventilation and
always use a protective mask when removing old
coatings.
• Keep the SpotHeater clean and dry. Dirty IR
tubes and reflectors could lead to fire. Check
the IR tube, the protective grille, and the power
cable regularly. Replace any damaged parts
immediately. IR tubes should be handled with care.
Should they be damaged, immediately turn off the
SpotHeater, and replace with a new IR tube.
• Do not allow children or other unauthorized
contact with the SpotHeater while it is in use.
• Do not use SpotHeater in the rain or in damp
locations.
• Avoid body contact with grounded objects while
using the SpotHeater (i.e.: metal pipes, radiators,
and refrigerators).
• Heating for too long in one place can lead to fire.
Test for optimal heating time. Ensure to have a fire
extinguisher within easy reach. If a fire occurs,
immediately switch off the tool and place it out
of reach of the fire. Never leave the SpotHeater
unattended during operation or shortly after. Let
the tool cool down before leaving it unattended.
• The power cable should always be unplugged when
the SpotHeater is not in use. Before unplugging
from the power outlet, always turn the power
switch to “OFF”. Use only approved extension
cords. Never carry the SpotHeater by the power
cable or pull the power cable out of the outlet.
• For repair, use only original parts. Faulty parts may
cause a risk of injury. Original parts are required
for the warranty to apply. The SpotHeater is
manufactured in accordance with current safety
regulations and should only be repaired by a
licenced specialist.
