Was the test strip exposed to open air for a
long period of time?
Repeat the control test with properly stored strips.

Was the test strip bottle capped tightly?
This will humidify strips inside. Replace the test
strips.

Was the meter functioning well?
You can use control solution to verify the meter’s
functions. (Chapter 2)

Is the control solution expired or
contaminated?
Replace with new control solution to check the
performance of SMBG system.

Were test strips and control solutions
stored in cool, dry places?
Repeat the control test with properly stored strips or
control solutions.
