Remember: Motorcycling can be a dangerous activity. Installation of any accessory can increase your risk if it is not installed properly. You are responsible to

install this seat or any accessory so it will not contact any portion of the drive train, suspension or steering, or in any way interfere with the operation of your

motorcycle.
To avoid injury, install while engine is cold.

1. Your Saddlemen seat will have the rear mounting tab installed in the shipping po-

sition. You will need to remove the two bolts holding it to the seat base, and reinstall

the bracket with the tongue in the correct installation position (Fig. A).
2. Remove both front and rear seats from your motorcycle. See your Owner's Manual.

3. If your seat came with the optional driver's backrest, it will include a metal mount-

ing bracket assembly that needs to be bolted to the frame of the motorcycle, under

the seat (Fig. B). With the seat removed, locate the two mounting points, threaded

into the frame (Fig. C). You may need to remove an existing seat bracket, which you

will not use. Install the backrest bracket assembly using the two new bolts supplied

in this kit, with the bracket going back over the rear fender.
4. The new seat installs by first sliding the front seat tab into the frame receiver

under the gas tank. Make sure the backrest bracket goes into the space in the seat,

and is accessible from the top. When the seat is firmly in place, use the original pas-

senger seat retaining screw to secure the back of the new seat to the fender.
5. Check all fasteners for tightness, 10 -to- 15 ft/lbs torque is recommended, do not

overtighten.
Check to make sure the seat fits properly. The new seat will be firmer than the

original seat and will break-in over time to provide greater comfort (usually several

hundred miles of riding is required). During the break-in, the seat will also settle in,

or lower, about ½ to one inch. Older seats may seem substantially lower because of

the worn-out, compressed foam that may have deteriorated with time.
