LP regulating system (external condenser)
The LP ChillPAC (external condenser) is equipped with an LP regulating system. The principal function
of the low pressure system is to keep a constant level of R717 in the evaporator.
The LP regulating system consists of:

Expansion valve station
•
Liquid level sensor
•
Level pipe
•
Inspection glass
•
High level switch
•
UniSAB III controller
The level sensor, pos. 7, Fig. 14, is constantly measuring the liquid level in the evaporator. The UniSAB
III controller receives input from the level sensor and continuously adjusts the expansion valve, pos. 5,
Fig. 17, in order to control the R717 liquid level according to the settings.
Due to heavy boiling in the evaporator the level in the level pipe is lower than the level in the evaporator
depending on the load. This must be taken into consideration when setting up the UniSAB III controller.
To make sure that the evaporator is not overfilled during standstill, a solenoid valve, pos. 3, Fig. 17, is fit-
ted in front of the expansion valve.
The expansion valve station incorporates several functions in one housing.
