Compressor Control Knobs
♦
Thresh : Adjusts the input signal level at which compression
begins. The higher the setting, the greater the signal needs to
be in order to get compression
♦
Attack : Adjusts how quickly the compressor reacts to input
signal. A higher setting will produce a slower compressor at-
tack time
♦
Ratio : Sets the degree of compression, the higher the ratio,
the more compression applied to the signal
♦
Level : Adjusts level of signal output. Use this to make up gain
lost with compression
♦
Tone : Treble boost to add punch and cut through the mix.
Plug ¼" guitar cord into Input to power on.
Stomp Switch turns on the effect (indicated by blue light be-
hind Sabine logo).

NexFX Pedal Tuner (NEX-5000)
Your Sabine NEX-5000 Pedal Tuner captures notes fast and ac-
curately, and holds them longer for quick and easy tuning. The
NexFX Pedal Tuner’s 11-LED display simulates a bar graph that
sweeps to the right or left showing how sharp or flat the note is.
The NexFX Pedal Tuner’s Flat-Tune function lets you quickly trans-
pose from standard tuning. In addition, a Calibrate function allows
for tuning to other than A=440 Hz.
Furthermore, the NexFX Pedal Tuner has two parallel outputs—
that means the same signal can split to different sound processing
equipment or to other Sabine NexFX Pedals.
Tuning with your NEX-5000
Recalibrating your NEX-5000 tuner
Use the calibrate function to tune your instrument to a pitch other
than A = 440, or if you want to use alternate scales.
For example, if you
wish to recalibrate the tuner from standard A = 440 Hz to A = 438 Hz,
press and hold the Calibrate Button for at least 3 seconds (the LED
above 440 will stop flashing and remain lit). Press the Calibrate Button
9 more times until the LED above 438 is lit (after 445 Hz, the sequence
wraps around to 435 Hz). When finished, wait 5 seconds, your setting
will be saved and the NEX-5000 will revert to tuning mode and the green
LED will flash at 2 times per second.
Flat Tuning with your NEX-5000 tuner
Use the Flat-Tune function to quickly transpose your guitar down from
standard tuning — useful when trying to sing a song not in your vocal range.
The Flat Tune Steps scale shows the number of steps or tones below
standard tuning. For example, to flat tune your guitar down two half tones,
press and hold the Flat Tune button for 3 seconds and then release (the LED
above the current Flat Tune setting will light — if you are not currently flat
tuned, the LED above 440 will light). Then press the Flat Tune button twice
more or until the LED above 1 in the Flat Tune Scale lights. When finished,
wait 5 seconds, your setting will be saved (the NEX-5000 will revert to tuning
mode and the green LED will flash at 3 fps). Remember, when you tune your
guitar down one step in Flat Tune mode, and you pluck the E string, the note
will still display as E, but it will really be D.
Plug your ¼-inch guitar cord into
the NEX-5000 Input. The LEDs will sweep
left then right once and the center green
In-Tune Indicator LED will start to flash
once per second.
NOTE: The Stomp Switch on your
NEX-5000 is a mute switch that affects both outputs (in case
nobody wants to hear you tune!).
Now you’re ready to tune! Gently pluck the string you wish to tune. The
Note Indicator LED will display the note, and the Sharp/Flat display will
show you how far your note is from in-tune. Adjust the string’s tension
until the Note Indicator LED displays the desired note, and the green In-
Tune Indicator LED stays lit.

Notes
1 flash per second means you are in A=440 Hz
pitch calibration and NOT in Flat Tuning mode
2 flashes per second means the tuner is in other
than A=440 Hz pitch calibration
3 flashes per second means the tuner is in Flat
Tuning mode.
If you are not in A=440 Hz pitch basis and in Flat
Tuning mode, the LED will flash 3 times per second.
