For maximum performance, use high speed steel bits
for wood or metal drilling. Select drilling mode. Begin
drilling at a very low speed to prevent the bit from
slipping off the starting point.
WOOD AND METAL DRILLING
IIncrease the speed as the drill bit bites into the material.
When drilling through holes, place a block of wood behind
the workpiece to prevent ragged or splintered edges on the
back side of the hole.
Wood Drilling
・ Use a light oil on the drill bit to keep it from overheating.
The oil will prolong the life of the bit and increase the
drilling action.
・ Maintain a speed and pressure which allows cutting
without overheating the bit. Applying too much pressure will:
・When drilling large holes in metal, start with a small bit,
then finish with a larger bit.
- Overheat the drill;
- Wear the bearings;
- Bend or burn bits; and
- Produce off-center or irregular-shaped holes.

To ensure safety and reliability, all repairs should be
performed by an AUTHORIZED SERVICE CENTER or
other QUALIFIED SERVICE ORGANIZATION.
SAVE THESE INSTRUCTIONS FOR FUTURE REFERENCE.
WARNING!
After use, check the tool to make sure that it is in top
condition. It is recommended that you take this tool to a
RYOBI Authorized Service Center for a thorough cleaning
and lubrication at least once a year.
DO NOT MAKE ANY ADJUSTMENTS WHILE THE
MOTOR IS IN MOTION.
ALWAYS DISCONNECT THE POWER CORD FROM THE
RECEPTACLE BEFORE CHANGING REMOVABLE OR
EXPENDABLE PARTS (BLADE, BIT, SANDING PAPER
ETC.), LUBRICATING OR WORKING ON THE UNIT.
Keep the ventilation slots of the machine clean to prevent
overheating of the motor. Regularly clean the machine
housing with a soft cloth, preferably after each use. Keep
the ventilation slots free from dust and dirt. If the dirt does
not come off use a soft cloth moistened with soapy water.
Never use solvents such as petrol, alcohol, ammonia water,
etc. These solvents may damage the plastic parts.
