bottom of the air box cover into the latch at the bottom 

of the air box base; push the air box cover up until it 

latches securely in place.

NOTE:

 The air filter should be replaced annually for the 

best performance.

REPLACING THE SPARK PLUG

This engine uses a CHAMPION RCJ6Y spark plug. Use 

an exact replacement and replace annually. Follow these 

steps to replace the spark plug.

 

Stop the engine.

 

Remove the spark plug boot.

 

Loosen the spark plug by turning it counterclockwise 

with a combination wrench.

 

Remove the spark plug.

 

Hand thread the new spark plug, turning it clockwise.

 

Tighten with a combination wrench to 22~25 Nm 

torque or one half of a turn from finger tight. Do not 

overtighten.

 

 WARNING

Be careful not to cross-thread the spark plug. Cross-

threading will seriously damage the engine.

CLEANING THE EXHAUST HOLE OF THE CYLINDER 

AND INTAKE HOLE OF THE MUFFLER

Always stop the engine and allow it to cool down before 

cleaning the exhaust hole.

 

Make sure the product is in the “off” position.

 

Remove the screws on the top and rear portions of the 

housing counterclockwise.

 

Remove the rear housing from the engine.

 

Remove the muffler screws counterclockwise, and then 

remove the muffler cover and , muffler and gasket from 

the cylinder.

 

Use the brush to clean the exhaust hole of the cylinder 

and intake hole of the muffler.

 

Replace the gasket, muffler and muffler cover. Replace 

the screws and then tighten it clockwise.

 

Replace the rear housing. Replace the screws, and 

then tighten it clockwise.

 

 WARNING

Always stop the engine and allow it to cool down before 

cleaning the exhaust hole.

REPLACING THE STRING HEAD

 

Turn off the product.

 

Align the spanner along the flat side of arbor flange 

washer.

 

Turn counterclockwise to remove the old string head.

 

Install the new string head, align the nut in the string 

head to the connector shaft of lower boom.

 

Turn the string head clockwise by hand to tighten, 

recommended torque is 6 N.M.

 

 WARNING

Always stop the engine and remove the spark plug 

wire before making any adjustments such as changing 

cutting heads; this is to reduce the risk of serious 

personal injury.

REPLACING THE LINE

 

Ensure the product is in “STOP” position.

 

Use a 2.4 mm diameter monofilament string.

 

Cut one piece of string approximately 5.4 m in length.

 

Rotate the bump knob clockwise as necessary to align 

the arrows on the bump knob with the arrows on the 

lower housing of string head.

 

Insert one end of the string into the eyelet located on 

the side of the string head and push until string comes 

out through eyelet on the other side.

 

Continue to push string through the string head until 

the middle section of the string is inside the string head 

and string outside the string head is evenly divided on 

each side.

 

Rotate the knob on the string head clockwise to wind 

the line.

 

Wind the string until approximately 20 cm remains 

protruding from the string head.
