Verifying AP Operation
Verifying AP Operation
Ruckus Wireless recommends that you verify that the 7781CM AP is operating correctly.
NOTE:
The cable modem and access point each has its own independent firmware load
that is updated independently.
To verify that the AP is operating correctly, perform the following procedures:
■
Connecting the AP to a Network
■
Associating a Wireless Client with the AP
■
Checking the TR069 Status (FlexMaster Management Only)
■
Disconnecting the AP from the Power Source and Administrative Computer
■
Restoring the Administrative Computer’s Network Settings
Connecting the AP to a Network
1.
Collect one Cat5e or better ethernet cable.
2.
Verify that the AP is powered on as described in
3.
Connect one end of the ethernet cable to the ethernet port on the 7781CM.
4.
Connect the other end of the ethernet cable to the same Layer 2 subnet as the
FlexMaster and/or ZoneDirector. The same Layer 2 subnet means that there should
not be any router between the AP and ZoneDirector.
The AP can also connect to the network using wireless backhaul if it is part of a mesh
network.
NOTE:
If the ZoneDirector is set to
Enable Mesh
, then ZoneDirector automatically
assigned the AP as a
Root AP
(RAP) if the 7781CM AP connected to ZoneDirector in
SSH to set the ZoneDirector IP Address on the AP”
■
When the AP has been configured as
Root AP
(RAP), and is powered up and does not
find a wired connection back to its ZoneDirector, it automatically looks for another RAP.
When it finds another RAP in the mesh network, it automatically provisions itself as a
Mesh AP
(MAP) in the mesh network.
