Cable Modem Operation
The CMAP provides a separate cable modem Web interface that you can use to view the
connection and software statuses, configure the downstream frequency, administer the
CM, and view the SNMP event log.

1.
Collect the following:
•
An administrative computer
•
The IP address assigned to the cable modem
2.
Obtain the IP address that is assigned to the cable modem. You can obtain this
information from the DHCP server at the CMTS.
3.
Connect the administrative computer to the same subnet as the CMAP.
4.
On the administrative computer, start a Web browser.
5.
In the address bar, enter the IP address that is assigned to the cable modem.
The cable modem web interface displays a login prompt.

blank.

Password,
type
ADMIN
.

Click
Log In
. The Status page appears, indicating that you have logged on to the cable
modem web interface successfully. Continue with

Collect an administrative computer, configured as described in

Connect one end of an Ethernet cable to the Ethernet port on the CMAP, and then
connect the other end to the administrative computer’s Ethernet port.

On the administrative computer, open a Web browser window.
