Baud Rate
Two baud rates are available: 9600 baud and 38.4K baud.
The default baud rate is 9600 baud. Whichever baud rate
is used, make sure that DIP switch 1 is set correctly on
both the main and backup controller cards in the ADAM
or ADAM CS frame.
Operation at 9600 baud allows the use of a longer cable,
but results in slower communication between the com-
puter and the intercom system. The parameters for opera-
tion at 9600 baud are: no parity, 1 stop bit, 8 data bits, 1
start bit, 9600 baud.
38.4K baud results in fastest operation, but requires a
short cable from the computer to the intercom, less than
25 ft (8 m).
Remote IFB
Remote IFB uses a TIM-940 Tone Activated Switcher and a
2400 Hz tone source as illustrated in Figure 3-8. The 2400
Hz tone source is connected to an audio input port of the ma-
trix. The tone input port and IFB output port are then de-
fined in the IFB edit screen of CSedit (page 2-6). The IFB is
then assigned to a keypanel key.
During normal operation, the audio path from the remote
audio source to the remote listener passes through the TIM-
940 uninterrupted. When the operator at the central control
keypanel presses the IFB key, the controller’s audio signal,
plus the 2400 Hz signal is routed, via the IFB output, to the
TIM-940. The TIM-940 removes the 2400 Hz tone from the
audio signal and uses this tone to activate the switcher. The
switcher cuts off the remote audio signal, and routes the con-
troller’s audio signal to the remote listener.
