9.2 Quarterly inspections
•
Visual inspection of the general conditions of the
equipment systems as well as the absence of
leaks;
•
Inspection of the ventilation filter (see paragraph
0).
9.3 Annual inspections
•
Inspection of the tightness of bolts, nuts, flanges
and water supply connections that may have been
loosened by vibration;
•
Check the state of integrity of the magnesium
anodes (see paragraph 0).
9.4 Cleaning of the ventilation filter
There’s a ventilation filter located in the upper part of
the equipment. It must be cleaned frequently in
order to maintain the efficiency of the system.
Every 1000 hours of operation, the “FiL” alarm appears
on the display of the equipment. This means that
you need to check the cleanliness of the filter.
To remove the filter, grab it with the fingers from the
appropriate side opening and pull it out (Fig. 20).
The filter can be cleaned by rinsing, water gush or
slamming. Since the filter is made of stainless
steel, it should not be substituted regularly.

– Details of the ventilation filter
N.B.
The filter obstruction reduces the heat pump
system performance causing insufficient
or even total lack of ventilation.
9.5 Magnesium anodes
The magnesium anode (Mg), also "sacrificial" anode,
avoids any parasitic currents, generated inside the
boiler, that can trigger corrosion processes on the
device surface.
In fact, magnesium is a metal with a lower
electrochemical potential in comparison to the
material that coates the inside of the boiler. It
therefore attracts the negative charges that are
formed during the heating of the water and would
cause the boiler t
o corrode. The anode “sacrifices”
itself by corroding instead of the tank. The boiler
has two anodes, one in the lower part and one in
the upper part of the tank (which is also the area
that is most susceptible to corrosion).
The integrity of the magnesium anodes should be
checked at least every two years (but preferably
annually), by qualified personnel.
Before performing the inspection, it is necessary to:
•
Close the cold water input supply;
•
Remove the water from the boiler (see paragraph
9.6);
•
Unscrew the upper anode and check its state of
corrosion. The anode should be replaced if more
than 30% of its surface is corroded;
•
Perform the same operation for the lower anode.
•
The anodes have appropriate sealing gaskets in
order to avoid causing water leaks. It is
recommended to use anaerobic sealant for
threads compatible for use on sanitary and
heating systems. In case of inspection, the anodes
and the gasket sealings must be replaced by new
ones.
9.6 Emptying the boiler
It is advisable to drain the water from the boiler if the
boiler is idle for a certain period of time, especially
in low temperatures.
As for the equipment, it is sufficient to disconnect the
water supply input connection (see paragraph 0).
Alternatively, during the system installation stage, it is
advisable to install a drain tap with a hose-holding
connection.
N.B.
It is important to empty the system in case of
low temperatures to avoid that the water
freezes.
