7 COMMUNICATOR TO PC CONFIGURATION
The following sections detail the communication between the Communicator and the PC.

7.1 Defining the Communication Speed with the Local PC
•
Go to
SYSTEM > Advanced Setup > COM/USB.
This screen defines the communication speed (
BAUD RATE
) corresponding with the local PC.
7.2 Configuring the Data Connection
•
Go to
SYSTEM > Advanced Setup > Line Modem > Advanced.
The Communicator can compress data and send it faster. Use this screen to increase the transfer rate
between the Communicator and a remote modem.
•
MODULATION
: Auto or V34 transmission. During connect negotiation at which the modems
have determined which modulation and rate will be used, meaning before any error.
•
COMPRESSION
:
Enables or disables data compression performed by the modem, also
known as hardware compression. It reduces the amount of time required to transfer data.
Make sure the modem you are connected to can read and decompress the received data.
•
DATA FLOW
: This feature enables the hardware to vary the data transmission rate.
CAUTION Rotem recommends that the user leave the Advanced menu items at their default
settings.
