CALIBRATION
SECTION 4.0
CALIBRATION
We recommend complete configuration (
before calibration. Calibration consists of entering the cell constant,
zeroing the sensor in air, and entering the temperature slope of the
process. The analyzer can automatically calculate the cell constant, if it
is unknown, and a two point calibration can be used if the temperature
slope is not known.
1.
From the operating display, press any key and press Enter (F4) to
access the calibration menu. Select initial setup and press Enter (F4).
NOTE
The hold mode screen will appear if the screen is activated in
. Changing the hold mode to ON holds the outputs
and relays in a fixed state to avoid process upsets to a con-
trol system. Press enter to obtain the calibration menu.
All cell constants can be located on the sensor J-Box or cable label. The
cell constant on the label is approximate. If approximate conductivity
readings are acceptable input the labels cell constant and temperature
slope value (Step 3) no calibration is required, however if a standardi-
zation is performed the cell constant will change compensating for the
process effects on the sensor.
If the cell constant is not entered a standardization or two point calibra-
tion will calculate the apparent cell constant and set the cell factor to
one. Subsequent standardizations will change the cell factor indicating
process effects on the sensor.
2.
Entering a new cell constant will reset the cell factor to 1.0. The cell
factor indicates the nonideality of the conductivity measurement
due to installation geometry, sensor scaling, and normal manufac-
turing tolerances. Track changes in this value to determine when to
remove the sensor for cleaning. After the cell constant is entered,
place the sensor in air and select sensor zero to zero the analyz-
er/sensor loop.
