Guidelines

Please take all necessary precautions when using Cargo Carriers and accessories.
Read these instructions carefully to use your Pursuit

 Fold-Away Cargo Carrier

correctly and safely.

•  The maximum weight capacity of the Rooftop Cargo Carrier is 100 lb.

DO NOT exceed this weight limit or the LOWEST cross bar rating of the

vehicle manufacturer. Improper use of this product will void the warranty.
•  Always make sure car doors are open when mounting the Rooftop Cargo

Carrier. Make sure all knobs, bolts, screws, straps, and locks are firmly

attached, tightened, and locked before every trip. Knobs, bolts, screws,

straps, and locks must be periodically inspected for signs of wear, corrosion,

and fatigue. Check your load at stops during the trip to ensure continued

  fastening security.
•  Check local and state laws governing projection of objects beyond the width

of a vehicle. Be aware of the width and height of your cargo since low

clearance branches, bridges, and parking garages can affect the load. All

cargo will affect the vehicle’s driving behavior. Never drive with any lock,

knob, or rack in an open or unlocked position.
•  When not in use, either remove the  Cargo Carrier from the top of your

vehicle or fold it down into its storage position and install the cover.
•  Obey all posted speed limits and traffic cautions to ensure the safety of your

vehicle and Cargo Carrier. Adapt your speed to the conditions of the road

  and the load being carried.
•  Do not use Cargo Carriers and accessories for purposes other than those for

which they were designed.  Do not exceed their carrying capacity.  Failure to

follow these guidelines or the products’ instructions will void the warranty.

Step-by-Step Set Up/Installation

1.  Lay all five sections of the frame on a flat surface.

Make sure the

bracket plate sections are facing the same direction, either up or down.

(See Diagram 1)

2.  Align the frame sections according to the diagram and insert until

the snap buttons ‘click’ into the receiver holes. (See Diagram 1a)

3.  Slide the assembled frame into the bottom pocket of the Cargo

  Carrier, narrow end first.

Make sure that the bottom surface of the

bracket plate section and Cargo Carrier bottom are both facing up.

  (See Diagram 2)

  • When sliding the frame into the bottom pocket, make sure the bracket

plates of the frame are on the same side as the bottom of the Cargo

Carrier. (Hint: the Cargo Carrier and frame may need to be bounced

several times on the front edge to seat the frame in the bag.

  • Once the frame is completely in the bottom pocket, fold the hook and

loop flap over, pressing evenly to secure the frame inside the cargo bag.

  • Use the strap and clasp to secure the flap closed.

4.

Open rear access panel and insert the baton in the rear of the Cargo Carrier.

  • Insert one end of the baton into one RED pocket. (Pocket is RED color
    webbing.)
  • Bend the baton and slide the other end of the baton into the opposite RED
    pocket.

(See Diagram 3)

  • Fasten hook and loop around baton inside of bag.

  5.  Attach the front air deflector panel BEFORE placing the Cargo Carrier on

top of your vehicle.

•  Unfold front air deflector panel flat, and insert plastic stiffener into center pocket.

(See Diagram 4a)

•  Attach hook and loop flap on the air deflector to the bottom surface edge of the

  Cargo Carrier.

•  Insert the two clasps at the front of the air deflector into the two clasps located

along the bottom edges of the Cargo Carrier. (Front air deflector should be laying flat.)

(See Diagram 4b)

•  Pull side panels into an upright position. Attach the two clasps on the air

deflector to the two clasps along the top edges of the Cargo Carrier. (Front air

deflector and side panels will be in the upright position).

(See Diagram 4c)

  6.  Place the Cargo Carrier on top of your vehicle.

•  Position the Rooftop Cargo Carrier so the front air deflector is facing the front of

  vehicle.

(See Diagram 5)

•  Center the Rooftop Cargo Carrier on the vehicle cross-bars.

• Check for proper clearance between Cargo Carrier and vehicle’s rear hatch.

7.  Secure the Cargo Carrier to the rack on top of the vehicle.

•  With the two side flaps unzipped and pulled outward, pull open the four hook

and loop pockets to expose the bracket plates on the frame.

•  Adjust the vehicles cross-bars, centering between the bracket mounting

  holes on the frame.

•  Insert a U-bolt from underneath the cross-bar, through the pre-drilled holes

of the bracket plate. (Hint: Fully installed U-bolts and knobs should NOT be

loose. Vehicles with thin cross-bars may require the use of included Spacer.

Spacer is inserted between cross-bar and U-bolt).

(See Diagram 6)

•  Attach the two knobs over the threaded end of the U-bolt post, and DO NOT

  tighten at this point.

(See Diagram 6)

•  Attach the remaining U-bolts and tighten all knobs until all four U-bolts are

securely attached to the vehicles cross-bars.

•  Securely tighten vehicle cross-bars.

•  Press the hook and loop pocket covers closed.

Collapsing the Fold-Away Cargo Carrier

1. Remove all items stored in the Rooftop Cargo Carrier and close zippers

along both sides of the carrier.

2. Unzip the rear flap and remove the baton from the rear of the Cargo Carrier.

Place baton inside of Carrier and zip rear flap closed.

3. Unsnap the front air deflector from the two attachment buckles.

4. Fold the Cargo Carrier side panels to a flat position.

5. Lay the front air deflector on top of the folded down Rooftop Cargo Carrier,

and snap to buckles located at each side of the Carrier.

(See Diagram 7)

6. Place the cover provided onto the  folded down Cargo Carrier.

   (See Diagram 8)

  • Slide front end of the cover over the front end of the Cargo Carrier.

  • Pull the cover over the rest of the Cargo Carrier, beginning at the front and

     work toward the back.

  • Stretch the elastic tabs on the back end of the Cargo Carrier to tightly

secure the cover to the Carrier.

  • Clasp the strap under the Cargo Carrier. Cinch tight to secure extra webbing.
