14.3. Fault: Kiln

Kiln not
working. The kiln is not supplied
with electricity. 1. Switch on the main switch of
the kiln.
2. Check the main circuit
breaker.
3. Check the connection of the
power cable to the building's
mains connection. 1. Check the micro-fuse in the
electrical box of the kiln (see
next section).
2. Check the building's mains
connection, fuses and the
current consumption of the kiln.
Kiln not heating. Kiln door is open and the
and the safety switching
element is activated
(Protective function:
The kiln does not heat
when the door is open.)
Close the kiln door. -
Safety switching element
not working. Does not
release because the
switching signal is absent. - Check the safety switching
element.
Safety switching element
not correctly adjusted.

Adjust the safety switching
element correctly.
Electrical wiring faulty. - Check the electrical wiring.
Thermocouple not
working. Check the thermocouple for
visible damage. Check the thermocouple and
replace it if necessary.
The control unit cable is
not connected to the kiln
or the connection is
incomplete. Check the cable connection
between the kiln and the control
unit. Check the cable connection
between the kiln and the control
unit. Replace defective
components.
The kiln only
heats up very
slowly or the
entered
temperatures
are not
achieved.
The kiln has been loaded
with more products than
permitted. Remove some of the ware so
that the weight of the items is
within the permissible limits.

Defective heating element
(Breakage or no longer
efficient due to age). Check the heating elements for
any visible breakage or ageing. Replacing defective heating
elements (it is always
recommended that you replace
all heating elements to achieve
an even temperature
distribution in the kiln).
Thermocouple not
working. Check the thermocouple for
visible damage. Also, check the
measuring circuit cables up to
the controller for breaks. Check the thermocouple and
replace it if necessary.
In the case of a multi-
phase power connection,
one or more phases not
working. Check the fuse on the fuse box
at the building's mains
connection. Check the building's mains
connection, fuses and the
current consumption of the kiln.
The kiln
switches off
before the end
temperature is
reached.
Power failure.
Switch the kiln on again and
continue operation.

Door switch misaligned. Check the door switch. Adjust the door switch.
Heating elements have
worn out. Check heating elements for
wear, breakage or ageing.
Replace heating elements.
Thermocouple not
working. Check the thermocouple for
visible damage. Check the thermocouple and
replace it if necessary.
