Guidelines for Extended
Shutdown or Storage
Medium Voltage Supply
Isolate and lock out the medium voltage supply to the drive at the source.
Storage Environment
The preferred storage location is in a heated/cooled building with adequate
clean air circulation. The following environmental conditions help to maintain
the drive components to be free from corrosion.
•
Drive must be stored in a clean, dry, dust-free area.
•
Drive must not be stored outdoors.
•
Storage atmosphere must be free of any corrosive gases.
•
Maintain storage temperature between 0…40 °C (32….104 °F).
•
Use anti-condensation space heaters to keep relative humidity at, or
below 70%.
Place rodent barriers on the drive to keep small rodents from nesting in the
drive.
Cooling Fans
Rotate cooling fans by hand or power once every three months. This helps to
maintain circulation of lubricant in the bearings and to help prevent brinelling
of the bearings.
Control Circuits
Apply control power to all control circuits once per year, for one hour to help
maintain the integrity of the power supply capacitor.
Recharge UPS batteries by supplying utility power to the UPS every six months
for three hours.
Power Cells
Higher amperage power cells are shipped separately from the drive enclosure.
The recommendations that are described in
Storage Environment on page 146
also apply to the power cells.
Perform the reforming procedure on the power cells annually, as detailed in
the Knowledgebase article “
Procedure of Electrolytic Capacitors Rejuvenation for
Storage
”, available at:
