•
When the charger is subjected to considerable temperature differences, (especially
from cold to hot) let the condensation dry up first, before you use the Twin Charger.
Condensation water could otherwise destroy the charger.
•
If you may assume, that the Twin Charger cannot be used safely any more, you must
immediately stop using it and secure it against unintended operation. Such an
assumption can be made if the Twin Charger:
Robitronic Twin Charger - Instruction Manual
- is apparently damaged.
- malfunctions
Art. No. R01002
- is stored in an adverse environment for prolonged periods of time.
Warranty
With the purchase of this product you purchased at the same time a two-year warranty
from date of purchase. The guarantee applies only to the already existing material on
the purchase of the product and / or functional defects.
Charging Batteries
•
Connect the Twin Charger’s mains cable to a 110-240V~ 50-60Hz source. Once the
middle led flashes red briefly, the Twin Charger functions correctly is ready to use.
•
Before you plug the battery to the Twin Charger, check the correct polarity of the
connectors. (See illustration below.)
Excluded from the guarantee:
•
Damage caused by incorrect use
•
Damage caused by neglect of duty of care

Connect the discharged NiMH battery to the appropriate charging harness of the
Twin Charger, this means
Black harness for 7-8 cells with 120 mA,
Red harness for 4-7 cells with 900 mA charging current.
•
When using the charging plug for remote control, please note the polarity of the
remote control. Connect the charging plug to the adapter so, that “TIP” according to
the polarity of the remote control, is facing to “+POS” or “-NEG” (see for example
Pic 1). “TIP” is the inner pole of the charging plug.

The red LED indicates the charging process
Intended use of the Twin Charger
Once the LED lights up green, charging is completed and the battery is ready for use
(only 4-7 cells 0,9A output). The Twin Charger now switches to trickle charge to keep
the battery fully charged. Now, disconnect the battery from the Twin Charger. If the
battery feels cold, charging has been interrupted early due to a false delta peak.
Such false delta peaks are especially common with old or poor batteries. Should
such an early delta peak occur, simply disconnect and reconnect the battery to the
Twin Charger. You can estimate the charging time through the following formula:
The Twin Charger can be directly powered off the mains current (110-240V~ 50-60Hz)
and is suitable for charging simultaneously any NiMH battery pack from 4-7 cells and
NiMH transmitter pack from 7-8 cells compatible with quick charging.
The charger is protected against overloading and short circuits as far as possible. It is
designed to work maintenance free. Care must be taken when determining the polarity
of the battery. It’s not allowed to operate the Twin Charger in adverse environments,
such as:
Charging time (h) = battery capacity (Ah) x 1.2 / charging current (A)
- High humidity
•
By use 7-8 cells 120 mA output, the maximum charging time is to calculate according
the formula and to disconnect manually.
- Wet conditions
- Dust or combustible gases, vapors, solvents or benzene
•
When charging has finished, unplug both the battery and the charger.
- High temperature (> approx. +40°C)
- Heavy vibrations
Note:
Should the red and the green LED flash permanently, then there’s a problem with
the Twin Charger. Disconnect the battery, unplug the charger from the mains and try
again after about 10 seconds. When you plug the Twin Charger to the mains while the
battery is connected, and the red LED doesn’t flash, you should immediately
disconnect the battery and the charger to avoid damage.
The charging process is indicated by a red LED.
The cell count selection is automatically determined by the charger.
The charging current amounts to max. 900mA (0,9A) and max. 120mA (0,12A)
Possible causes for the malfunction can be:
The Twin Chargers intelligent “delta-peak” design detects a fully charged battery and
ends the charging process automatically, switching to a low-current trickle charge (only
4-7 cells 0,9A output). This way, the battery won’t get overcharged but stays at its
maximum capacity. By use 7-8 cells 120 mA output, the maximum charging time is to
calculate according the formula (see Charging batteries) and to disconnect manually.
An indicator LED constantly informs about the current operating status.
- The battery is connected in reverse polarity.
- The battery or a single battery is defective
- Poor wiring resulting in a loose or no connection
- Mains socket is dead or defective
- Twin charger is defective
Any other use of this product apart from the description above is not permitted and can
not only damage the Twin Charger, but can also lead to short circuits, fire, electrical
shock and personal harm. Hence, the product must not be changed or converted!
To get the most out of your batteries, only charge them when they’ve been fully
discharged before. This will prevent the memory effect from occurring.
Additionally, unused batteries should be cycled (discharge/charge) once a month
to prevent capacity loss. It’s normal for the batteries to get slightly warm during
the charging process. Do not cover the Twin Charger so it does not overheat.

Before charging, always check with the safety recommendations of the battery’s
manufacturer. Improper handling like reverse polarity or charging currents that are
too high may result in the explosion of the battery with considerable additional
damage.
•
The Twin Charger’s construction corresponds to protection rating II. (double
insulation) Always make sure the insulation on both the case and the mains cable is
intact
•
Keep the chargers away from transmitters (cell phones, remote controls…) as their
emf can disrupt or destroy the destroy the Twin Charger’s electronics.
