Drill a 3/32” X 1-1/4” pilot hole through the bottom 5/16” hole on both sides of the U-Channel  which is over the 6x6. Drill 

through only the bottom holes.

Using a Ratchet driver and a 7/16” socket, drive a ¼” x 1-1/4” Lag Screw through the pilot holes you drilled. Tighten the 

lag screws.
