9. Scrape soot from combustion chamber walls and heat exchanger passages using furnace brush and/or fabricated
cleaning rake. Shop vacuum may be used to aid in cleaning process.
10. Remove cleanout cap from flue pipe tee and tap flue pipe gently to cause any loose soot that may be out of
reach to fall out. Scrape soot from flue pipe walls that are accessible.
11. When cleaning is complete, install all gaskets in place and replace all covers. Replace gaskets if they are
damaged or deteriorated,
Clean End Cone
To gain access to the end cone, the burner must be removed. Remove the burner and clean the end cone as follows:
⚠ WARNING ⚠
Turn OFF electrical power before the burner is removed for service.
1. Turn OFF electrical power to unit.
2. Locate two yellow wires that go from burner to ignition controller and disconnect these wires at terminals on
ignition controller.
3. Remove three nuts that secure burner mounting plate (see
) to heater.
NOTE: Rake is 6-inch piece of 3/4-inch plate.

4. Slide burner out of heater and rotate.
5. With burner on service tray, remove screws that secure end cone to burner tube and remove end cone.
6. Check end cone for deterioration and replace if deterioration exists. Otherwise, clean end cone using stiff wire brush.
