Charging the rechargeable battery
Before first use, charge the rechargeable battery integrated in the glow plug connector with the USB charger
supplied. Connect the jack that sits at the end of the charger cable and is shaped like a glow plug.
•
Connect the USB charger to a suitable USB power adapter or USB cigarette lighter adapter (both not
included), which feature an output current of at least 500 mA. Alternatively, you can use the USB port of a
computer or a USB hub that has its own power supply and a current output of 500 mA per port.
The operational readiness of the USB charger is signalled by an integrated green LED.
• Use the finger ring to pull back the plug attachment in the plug connector of the glow plug connector. You
will see the tongs. Insert the connection plug of the USB charger all over until the contact element is fully
surrounded by the tongs. Now let the plug attachment slide forward again by the force of the built-in spring
so that the charger plug is held in place by the tongs.
•
The charging process will start, if the battery is not defective (high impedance/interrupted) and power is
supplied. This is indicated by the red LED light on the USB charger.
If the green LED on the USB charger is not on (once connected to a suitable voltage/power
supply), check the power supply to the USB.
The battery is not charging, if the LED is still green and not red. although the glow plug connector
is plugged in. The cause is usually an issue with the contacts (for example, glow plug connector,
spring contacts). Please clean these contacts using appropriate means (for example, contact
spray and soft cloth).
• The recharging process will last for approx. 14 hours if the battery is completely empty. If the rechargeable
battery is only partly discharged, the charging process must be stopped earlier. Check thus the battery
temperature by hand at regular intervals. The charging current is transformed into heat when the recharge-
able battery is fully charged. Thus, the temperature of the rechargeable battery increases noticeably.
•
Disconnect the battery from the USB charger after charging and disconnect the USB charger from the
USB voltage/power supply.
Depending on the usage of the glow plug connector, the battery must be recharged in good time
so that delivery of proper glow performance is ensured.
Usage in the model
You should check the functionality of the model and the remote control before heating the glow plug so that
the glow plug connector battery is not exposed to unnecessarily long glow times. When the appropriate
measures are used, such as covering the air supply of the carburettor or similar (depending on the model),
the amount of fuel sucked in will be sufficient.
Pull back the plug attachment with the finger ring at the glow plug connector. Put the glow plug connector
upright on the glow plug and let the finger ring glide forward. The tongs in the glow plug connector must
firmly cup the glow plug.
Hold the glow plug connector and start the engine.
Only pull off the glow plug connector (pull the finger ring) if the engine is running in concentric circles within
the increased idle speed range.
You can test the functioning of the glow plug connector (or whether the battery is sufficiently
charged) by connecting an unmounted glow plug to the glow plug connector and view the glow
tip, while holding it in your hollow hand, for example. Attention, risk of burns!
Disposal
a)
Product
Electronic devices are recyclable and do not belong in the household waste. Dispose of an
unserviceable product in accordance with the relevant statutory regulations.
Remove any inserted batteries/rechargeable batteries and dispose of them separately from the
product.
b)
Batteries/Rechargeable Batteries
As the end user, you are required, by law, (Battery Ordinance) to return all spent batteries/rechargeable
batteries; disposal of them in the household waste is prohibited.
Batteries/rechargeable batteries contain harmful materials and are labelled with the symbol
shown to indicate that disposal in the household waste is forbidden. The symbols of the critical
heavy metals are: Cd = cadmium, Hg = mercury, Pb = lead (the marking can be seen on the
battery/rechargeable battery, e.g., underneath the refuse bin symbol shown on the left).
You can return your used batteries/rechargeable batteries free of charge at the official collection points of
your community, in our stores, or at places where batteries or rechargeable batteries are sold.
That way you fulfil your statutory obligations and contribute to the protection of the environment.
