ADJUSTMENT
Use the adjustment knob to rotate until
desired torque is reached, as shown in
the two indicator windows. Use the fine-
adjustment indicator on the adjustment
knob for 1 inch-lb increments. Refer
to manufacturer’s recommendation for
appropriate torque value.
USE
Attach Force Assist™ for improved control at high-torque applications. Hand rotate
fastener into position to prevent cross threading. Attach driver bit for required
application. Place hand on free-spinning cap and apply downward pressure on
wrench. Apply torque. Fastener will tighten until torque wrench clutch plate slips
with an audible “click”. This indicates that the fastener has been tightened with the
appropriate level of torque.
SAFETY: Before using Smart Torq on a firearm, you must MAKE SURE THAT THE FIREARM IS UNLOADED AND SAFE to work on. It is your
responsibility to exercise caution during the use of this tool, especially when applying torque. DO NOT APPLY EXCESSIVE TORQUE. To avoid
injury or damage to your firearm, check for correct fit of all implements carefully before use. To avoid damaging your firearm, make sure that you
are using the proper devices to securely hold it in place (gun vise, barrel blocks, upper vise blocks, lower vise blocks etc.).
WARNINGS
Do not apply impact or use as a ratcheting device.
Unidirectional torque wrench should not be used on non-standard
fasteners with left-hand threads.
Do not adjust wrench beyond
70 inch-lb
.
Do not disassemble wrench. There are no user-serviceable parts.
TIPS
Start threading a fastener several twists by hand before using a
torque wrench to avoid stripping threads.
One “click” will deliver the correct amount of torque. Several
applications of torque are not required.
Smart-Torq operates in a unidirectional manner. It will “click” at
the indicated torque when tightening conventional fasteners. It will
not function as a torque wrench during loosening operation.
Use Force Assist for heavy torque applications. Remove Force Assist
Handle for quick adjustment or fine application of torque. The
Force Assist Handle can be used for non-torque wrench bit driving.
The small bit driver can be used with a small tap hammer to free
stuck fasteners.
MAINTENANCE
Smart-Torq is lubricated for life, do not apply lubricant.
Keep free from dirt and moisture. Do not submerge in water.
Adjust Smart-Torq to lowest torque setting once operation is
complete. Storage of wrench while spring is compressed can cause
loss of accuracy or damage. Store in a cool, dry area.
