BEFORE CALLING FOR SERVICE
Check the following list to be sure a service call really necessary. A quick reference to this manual may
help you avoid an unneeded service call.
THE AIR CONDITIONER WILL NOT OPERATE
Check if...
Wall plug disconnected.
House fuse blown or electric breaker tripped.
Power switch is OFF position.
Unit was turned off and then immediately on.
Control knob set warmer than room temperature.
Push plug firmly into wall outlet.
Replace fuse with time delay type or reset circuit breaker.
Turn power switch the ON position.
Turn unit off the wait 3 minutes before restarting.
Wall plug disconnected.
House fuse blown or electric breaker tripped.
Unit was turned off and then immediately on.
Temperature set warmer than room temperature.
Push plug firmly into wall outlet.
Replace fuse with time delay type or reset circuit breaker.
Turn unit off and wait 3 minutes before restarting.
Set the temperature lower .
Then...
AIR FROM UNIT DOES NOT FEEL COLD ENOUGH
Check if...
House fuse blown or electric breaker tripped.
Then...
Fan speed set in low .
The temperature set too warm.
Room temperature below 61

Cooling may not occur until room temperature rises above 61

).
Temperature sensing tube touching evaporator coil,
located behind front grille.
Remove front grille, and straighten tube away from evaporator coil.
Set fan speed to high .
Set the unit to lower temperature.
THE AIR CONDITIONER COOLING, BUT ROOM IS TOO WARM-ICE
FORMING ON COOLING COIL BEHIND INLET GRILLE.
Check if...
House fuse blown or electric breaker tripped.
Then...
Outdoor temperature below 70
°

Air filter may be dirty.
The air conditioner set too cold for night-time
cooling.
To defrost the coil, set the air conditioner to fan mode.
Clean filer. Refer to maintenance section of owner
’s
manual.

Check if...
House fuse blown or electric breaker tripped.
Then...
Dirty air filter-air restricted.
Front of unit is blocked by drapes, furniture, etc.
Air distribution is restricted.
Clear blockage in front of unit.
Clean air filter. Refer to maintenance section of owner
’s
manual.
Doors, windows, registers, etc. open, cold air escapes.
Close doors, windows registers, etc.
Unit recently turned on in hot room.
Allow additional time to remove stored heat from walls, ceiling, floor
and furniture.
THE AIR CONDITIONER TURNS ON AND OFF RAPIDLY.
Check if...
Then...
Outside temperature is extremely hot.
Set fan speed to high speed to bring air past cooling coils faster.
NOISE WHEN UNIT IS COOLING
Check if...
Then...
Sound of fan hitting water-from the moisture removal system.
This is normal when humidity is high. Close doors, windows and registers.
Window vibration-poor installation.
Refer to installation instructions or check with installer.
TROUBLE SHOOTING
The temperature set too warm.
Set the unit to lower temperature.
