Operating the ACU
This section describes the system and power connections to the ACU, and how to
begin operation after the system is configured.
Connecting the ACU to the System
Connect the ACU unit to the system as described in Connecting the System, on
page 33.
Operating the Antenna with the ACU
You must first configure the antenna, as described in Configuring the Antenna with
the ACU, on page 48. Once this is done, you can start operation.
To turn on the system:
1. Turn the modem on first and wait for it to boot.
2. Turn the ACU on using the main power switch located on the back of the unit.
3. Verify that the
On/Standby
indicator on the front of the ACU is green.
The LCD screen shows the ACU's software version, then the antenna status.
The antenna begins to search for the selected satellite. It starts an
Initialization
process, followed by
Acquisition
and
Checking
. Once the antenna locks on the
target satellite, the LCD screen shows
Tracking
.
Configuring the Antenna with the ACU
Once the configuration of the ACU and modem are completed, the antenna will
operate autonomously and no further user intervention is required.
You can configure the ACU in two ways, as described in the following sections:
Configuring the Antenna with the ACU Web Interface
Configuring the ACU with the ACU LCD Display
The use of command line interface (CLI) commands is not discussed
in this manual, and is normally only for Technical Support
debugging purposes. Gilat can provide customers that have Tier 2
training with the relevant documentation for working with CLI.
