Introduction
Theory
DGPS receivers collect and report position information relative to the antenna location. In agricultural
applications, the GPS receiver is most often mounted on the top of the machine. If the machine is on level
terrain, the reported GPS position is correct. However, in areas with uneven or rough terrain, the reported GPS
position, calculated at the GPS antenna, may not be accurate due to machine tilt.
The following table is an example of the potential error in reported GPS position for various antenna heights at
a 5° tilt angle.
The Raven TM-1™ Tilt Module compensates for any tilt of a vehicle from a level field condition. The Raven
TM-1 Tilt Module must be connected between the GPS receiver and an existing guidance console or field
