Enables you to switch between
Explosives Optimized and Narcotics Optimized modes.

Switch Mode
The
Stabilizing Temperatures message displays in the status bar until the internal temperatures are reached. The
status bar displays:
•
EX when in Explosives Optimized mode
•
N when in Narcotics Optimized mode
•
Vapor when in Vapor Optimized mode
Explosives Optimized Mode
When
Explosives Optimized mode is selected, only the explosive substances are selected by default for analysis.
The ITMS™ software sets the detector temperature at 162ºC, which is the ideal temperature setting for the
detection of explosives. Select the split window in plasmagram view because some substances, such as TATP
appear in the
Positive Ion window even though they are explosives.
Narcotics Optimized Mode
When
Narcotics Optimized mode is selected, only the narcotics substances are selected by default for analysis.
The ITMS™ software sets the detector temperature at 205ºC, which is the ideal temperature setting for the
detection of narcotics. The split window is displayed, but all narcotics appear in the
Positive Ion window.
Vapor Optimized Mode
NOTE:
To change to
Vapor Optimized
mode, you must remove the desorber and attach the vapor plate.
