When inserting components, ensure that the plugs of components are aligned with
the socket on the chassis backplane and both sides of the components are on the
guide rail. Do not force the components in place when there is resistance. Adjust the
position of the components and then try again.
Step 4
After inserting components to the slots, tighten the captive screws at the two sides of the panel
clockwise, as shown in Figure 4-4.

After installation, check whether all components are in place and whether all captive screws
are tightened. Insert blank panels into slots which are unoccupied.
Install components before connecting optical modules and cables. Do not
insert/remove components with cables attached.
4.3 Removing components
Remove cards according to the following steps.
Step 1
Wear an ESD wrist strap.
Step 2
Remove the cables and optical modules from the components.
Step 3
Loosen the two captive screws, as shown in Figure 4-5.

Step 4
Pinch the ejector levers on both sides of the card and pull the card outward. The card will be
away from the backplane (about 1cm), as shown in Figure 4-6.
