Proto-CastandProto-Dispatch:
M.T.H.enginesequippedwithLoco-Soundhavespeedcontrolcapabilitiesthatallowthe
enginetomaintainaconstantspeedupanddowngradesandaroundcurves,muchlikean
automobilecruisecontrol. Youcanaddordropcarsontherun,andtheenginewill
maintainthespeedyouset.
Theengineisprogrammedtostartwiththespeedcontrolfeatureactivated,youcanoptto
turnitoff. Thismeanstheengine'sspeedwillfallasitlaborsupahillandincreaseasit
travelsdownward. Itisalsoaffectedbytheadditionorreleasingofcarswhileontherun.
Becausetheenginewillrunmoreslowlyatagiventhrottlevoltagewhenspeedcontrolis
onthanwhenitisoff,youshouldadjustthethrottletoalowerpowerlevelforoperation
withspeedcontrolofftoavoidhigh-speedderailments.
puttheengineinneutral,thenquicklytapthe
transformer'sHornbuttononetimethenquicklytaptheBellbuttontwotimes,allowing
approximately½secondtolapsebetweeneachquickbuttonpress. Repeatthe1horn,2
bellscodetoreturnittotheothercondition.
Eachtimeyoushutdowntheenginecompletely,itwillautomaticallyturnspeed
controlon.
Youcanlockyourengineintoadirection(forward,neutral,orreverse)sothatitwillnot
changedirections. Todothis,puttheengineintothedirectionyouwantorintoneutral,
tolockitintoneutral,runitataveryslowcrawl(asslowlyasitwillmovewithout
halting),andquicklybutfirmlytaptheHornbuttononcefollowedbythreequicktapsof
theBellbutton,allowingapproximately½secondtolapsebetweeneachquickbutton
press. Theenginewillnotchangedirection(includinggoingintoneutral)untilyou
repeatthe1horn,3bellscodetoreturntheenginetoitsnormalcondition,evenifthe
engineiskeptwithoutpowerforextendedperiodsoftime.
Whenusedwiththeremotelock-onincludedinthisset,Loco-Sound-equippedengines
gainProto-Cast andProto-Dispatch features
Toturnspeedcontrolonandoff,
Youwillwanttodothisduringtheinitial
neutraluponstart-upifyouevercouplethisenginetoanotherenginethatisnot
equippedwithspeedcontroltoavoidderailmentanddamagingthemotorsineither
engine.
