JR•1™

ACTIVE MODE

On the rear panel you will find a switch labeled ACTIVE/PASSIVE. This is

recessed to prevent accidentally changing settings during use. Use a small

screwdriver to access the ACTIVE/PASSIVE switcher during setup. Once

you are done, you will likely leave it alone.

Set the switch to ‘active’ (inward position) when the JR•1 is controlling a

Radial device such as the Relay Xo stereo switcher. When set to active, the

JR•1 sources its power from the remote device and the LED indicators work.

PASSIVE MODE

A passive mode may be engaged that allows the JR•1 to function as a

standard footswitch for any device with a compatible ¼" footswitch jack. Use

passive mode with non-Radial devices such as guitar amplifiers to change

amp channels or electronic keyboard to turn on the sustain. Note that some

Radial devices can be operated using the JR•1 but they are not able to

provide power to the LEDs, in this case passive mode should also be used.

To use like a standard footswitch, set the ACTIVE/PASSIVE switch to

‘passive’ (outward position). The A/B status LEDs will not illuminate when the

JR•1 is operating in passive mode. Connection is done the same way with

¼" guitar cable. Connect one end to the JR•1 and the other to a compatible

footswitch jack.

REVERSING THE LEDS

In order to have the LED indicators line up with the channels of your connected

Radial device, the JR•1 includes a switch on the rear panel labeled LED REV.

This switch will reverse the A and B LED indicators so that they are illuminated

with the corresponding inputs or outputs on your Radial device. If you connect

your JR•1 and the LED indicators already match the ones on your Radial device,

simply leave this switch in the ‘out’ position. Note that the LED REV switch only

affects the JR•1 when it is used in Active Mode as described above.
