Terminating Your Tabletop Tape Drive
You must terminate the tape drive if it is the last physical device on the SCSI bus (at the end of the
SCSI chain). If another SCSI device is the last device on the SCSI bus, confirm that it is properly
terminated and do not terminate your tape drive.
N
OTE
: Regardless of which device terminates the SCSI bus, it must have power
applied and be powered on for proper termination to occur.
To terminate your tape drive, press the terminator firmly into either of the two SCSI connectors on the
rear panel of the tape drive. Secure it by tightening the screws until snug. See
Figure 3-5
for more
information.
Powering the Terminator
At least one device on the SCSI bus must supply terminator power (TERMPWR). The factory default
for the tape drive is for TERMPWR to be enabled. Only an authorized service provider can disable the
tape drive TERMPWR setting.
N
OTE
: It is acceptable for more than one device on the SCSI bus to provide
TERMPWR
