Installing a Replacement Integrated Storage Controller
To install the replacement integrated storage controller in the DXi6900 G2 Node:
1. Align one end of the integrated storage controller card with the card holder on the system board (see
Figure 63 on the previous page
).
2. Lower the other end of the card into the storage controller card holder on the system board. Ensure that
the tabs on the system board align with the screw holes on the integrated storage-controller card.
3. Align the screws on the integrated storage-controller card cable with the screw holes on the connector.
4. Tighten the screws to secure the integrated storage-controller cable with the integrated storage-
controller card connector on the system board.
5. Replace the expansion card riser 1 (see
Replacing an Expansion Card in Riser 1 on page 98
).
Opening and Closing the Node on page 64

9. Run
Factory Detect Hardware
from the
Service Menu
to detect the new hardware (see
).
10. In the remote management console, delete any administrative alerts and close any service tickets.
Note:
After replacing the integrated storage controller, a background initialization automatically occurs
on all LUNs. This process is non-destructive, and data is not affected. However, system performance
is reduced during the background initialization, which takes 3.5–11.0 hours.
Enabling Data-at-Rest Encryption on a Replacement Integrated
Storage Controller
If Data-at-Rest Encryption is enabled on the system, additional steps are required to enable the encryption
keys on the replacement PERC H730 controller. Until the keys are enabled on the new H730 controller, the
system cannot boot from the boot drives.
