7.3 FIRMWARE DOWNLOAD
Firmware downloading allows selected units to be upgraded with selected files, usually
sourced from the manufacturers website.
1. Select the units needing a firmware upgrade under the ‘ Units’ column on the
left-hand side, and then press the ‘ Files ’ button to find the appropriate .am4
files as shown in Figure 7.3.
NOTE:
Normally, all units and ‘ Broadcast mode ’ option should be checked (i.e.
‘ ON ’), allowing multiple Versatile Feeder units of similar type to be upgraded
simultaneously. See section 7.3.1 Broadcast Mode for further information.
One or more files can be selected depending on which modules need
upgrading.

NOTE:
Each file includes the module name in the filename, i.e. Inserter (Insert Head),
Feeder (Versatile Feeder), Tower (Flex Folder), and OutputProcessing (Sorter
and Turner).
2. Once a file has been selected, the lower panes show the version number and
status of the file, and can be compared with the main pane showing the same
details for the current firmware in the unit as shown in Figure 7.4.

3. Press the ‘ Download ’ button in the bottom left-hand side to begin the
download process. When downloading, the upper right-hand pane will show
the progress status of the download.
Existing jobs and settings will not be altered, however it
is recommended that calibrations.
