LapTronic LP400

LapTronic is a 50Hz GPS receiver designed for all motorbikes having a chronometer display, with LapTronic you will be able to automatically display lap
times on the original instrument panel.
INSTALLATION
N.B. DO NOT CONNECT THE GPS RECEIVER PRIOR TO HAVING CARRIED OUT A TRIAL TEST WITH THE APPROPRIATE LED
MODULE, AS YOU COULD DAMAGE YOUR INSTRUMENT PANEL.
Connecting LapTronic is very simple thanks to the connection table displayed on the reverse of this page.
LapTronic comprises of an interface module, with a four poles cable ready to be installed behind the wiring of the dashboard, and a GPS receiver
module, with a four poles connector; carry out connections between the interface and the original motorbike dashboard as described in the table, and on
finishing make sure that all connections have been isolated.
Before connecting the receiver module to the interface carry out the test phase with the appropriate led module present in the box.
In order to test the connections, connect the led module to the interface, switch on the motorbike and press the button which usually turns on the
chronometer on the dashboard and verify that the led every time it is
SWITCHED OFF.
The led is on and when you push the button is switched off, if
this does not happen check all connections and try again.
Do not connect the GPS receiver until the test phase has been successfully completed.
Place the receiver module with the writing facing upwards and in a horizontal position with a clear and unobstructed view of the sky,
it is recommended to
place on the steering plate as horizontal as possible trying to avoid that is facing the pilot.
Do not place the product on the tank fuel or the inner intakes of the bikes
because the GPS receiver would be fully covered by the body of the rider and
his helmet or would be covered by the bike itself during a corner with high lean angle.
Fix the entire length of the sensor cable, make sure that the cable is not under tension when using the device.
Note for R1 2015/16: the original dashboard of the R1 is a source of many EMI interferences, in case you will have incorrect lap
times move the receiver on the fork plate placing it horizontal and NOT inclined as the fork plate.
USAGE
When switching on the device, the led on the module indicates the GPS receiver status:
- Solid:
the signal which is being received is not strong enough to locate the position. If a long period of time has passed or if you have travelled several
kilometres from the place you last switched on the device, you have to wait up to 4-5 minutes to receive a signal; otherwise one minute is necessary to
locate the position. If the led does not change status, position the receiver in a less restricted area because it couldn't receive a good signal.
- Slow blink:
satellites signal reception. It is now possible to store your destination. Such coordinates will be kept stored until subsequent
memorisation, even in the event of battery replacement.
- Double blink:
the position which has been detected is within 6km from the coordinates of the previously stored destination; in this case there is no
need to store the destination again as it is already memorized.
To be able to reveal the lap times you must activate the lap timer on the dash, refers to motorcycle's instruction manual.
Predefined tracks:
LapTronic LP400 has already stored in its internal memory the 104 most famous world circuits; in case you are in one of these it
will not be necessary to set the finish line. You can check the list of tracks in the attached sheet otherwise verify it directly on the product checking the
led status (double or single blink).
In case your circuit is not listed we remind that LapTronic can store one circuit manually which will remain in memory until you will not run a new
manual storage procedure that will overwrite the previously saved circuit.
WARNING:
if you store a circuit in the proximity of a track already loaded in memory, the receiver will always use the one created manually by
excluding the track in memory;
for this reason do not store manually a finish line near a circuit already in memory.
Manually set of a finish line:
press the button in the location where you wants to store the finish line (don't place the finish line nearby a corner but
always on a straight); after pressing the button the led will be solid for a while, then will restart with double blink. Avoid to set the finish line coordinates
from the pit-lane because the distance from this point to the real trajectory of the bike may not be enough.
